Déjeuner autour de Charles Kupchan, ancien conseiller de Barack Obama

Le 3 mai dernier, l’Institut Aspen France, a reçu, dans le cadre d’un déjeuner privé, Charles Kupchan.

Charles Kupchan est professeur d’affaires internationales à Georgetown University, et Senior Fellow au Council on Foreign Relations.

De 2014 à 2017, Charles Kupchan a été conseiller spécial du Président Obama et directeur du département affaires européennes du Conseil de Sécurité Nationale. Il avait déjà occupé ce poste dans l’administration Clinton.

Il est l’auteur de nombreux ouvrages sur la politique étrangère américaine, notamment: No One’s World: The West, the Rising Rest, and the Coming Global Turn (2012), How Enemies Become Friends: The Sources of Stable Peace (2010), The End of the America Era: U.S. Foreign Policy and the Geopolitics of the Twenty-first Century (2002), Power in Transition: The Peaceful Change of International Order (2001), Civic Engagement in the Atlantic Community (1999), Atlantic Security: Contending Visions (1998), Nationalism and Nationalities in the New Europe (1995), The Vulnerability of Empire (1994), The Persian Gulf and the West (1987).

Charles Kupchan a étudié à Harvard University et Oxford University, avant d’enseigner entre autres à Columbia University, au CERI, ou encore à l’Institut pour les politiques internationales à Tokyo.

Au cours de ce déjeuner, Charles Kupchan a notamment évoqué la redéfinition de la politique étrangère américaine depuis l’élection de Donald Trump, avant d’échanger avec l’audience.
